The Hideaway by Sheila O’Flanagan

As I am sure some of you have already realized, I am a complete sucker for books either written about other countries or set in other countries.

This is a perfect example of that.  Juno, the main character is running away from a terrible secret and believes that the best thing for her to do is to go into isolation in another country – in this instance, Spain.

She ends up staying in a friend’s family villa and the story details how she heals by not only putting distance between herself and her friends and family but also by engaging with the locals in town.

Painting and fixing up the villa are just some of the things that she does to keep herself busy.

She has time to reflect, meet new people, experience new things, and also see everything from a different perspective. Sometimes saying goodbye to things that no longer serve you can be the best thing you can possibly do.

Especially in these times of lockdown around the world, this book made me want to travel and explore as soon as possible!
