The Elephant Whisperer by Lawrence Anthony with Graham Spence

I should have known better!  Any story with animals in it WILL make me cry!  Either from happiness or sadness.  This book is no exception.

The book had been part of our book club for a while and somehow it was always with one of the other members when I wanted to take it out! Eventually it was my turn.

I must confess that I always go straight to the pictures in a book (childlike I know but I do it anyway!) to gain some insight before I begin reading.  Thula, the  baby elephant, really stood out for me and has to be one of the cutest animals alive.

Lawrence truly had a way with animals and they were able to pick up on this.  I really do believe that all animals are intuitive and elephants to me have always come across as gentle giants.  Don’t get me wrong, they can cause massive destruction too and did on a few occasions.

He gave the elephants a chance when no one else would and persevered where others would have given up.  I honestly think that the elephants knew that he was their last chance and did anything and everything to make him fall in love with all of them.
