The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh

Hibiscus - Delicate BeautyCosmos – Joy in love and life

Grapevine – Abundance

Hibiscus – Delicate beauty

Oregano – Joy

Ginger – Strength

The Victorian Language of Flowers was used to convey emotions and send coded messages, but for a girl whose entire life was made up of foster- care, it was her only respite from her daily struggles.  The meaning of flowers became her world and as a result she ends up working for a florist.  It is there that she is able to assist others with her thoughtful composition of beautiful bouquets.  Poppy – fantastic extravagance, Bougainvillea – Passion and one of my personal favourites – Mistletoe – I surmount all obstacles!

A beautiful story about love and family and how the two are inextricably linked.
